Bon Air Plantation

Take a look at the bottom left photo. I had never seen a photo of this plantation! Of course, Bon Air Drive is named for this place.

    1. I am unsure just exactly where the house itself was. I did find a description of the land itself that made up the plantation on a Facebook post about it on “If You Grew up on the Southside of Monroe”: ” It started at Bayou DeSiard on the bend directly across from where the old Showtown Drive In was, extended South through the middle of the current airport, across the V’burg, Monroe & Shreveport RR to South of what is now I-20.”
It sounds like it was next to the Children’s Home or in that general vicinity.

    2. A cousin of my late husband says that before WWll, her family lived on Bon Aire. She says it ran between DeSiard and Milhaven Road, past the Children’s Home. Streets and names changed in that area during and after war. I think the Bon Aire Planation may have been on both sides of the bayou.
