Monroe Fire of 1871

The hand written caption on the bottom right is incorrect.  this is the fire of 1871, started in one of Sidney Saunders' buildings.  It destroyed Monroe, doing about a half million dollars of damage.  Mealy was standing near the intersection of DeSiard and Grand streets.
