Back in 1951, the Monroe Morning World and the Monroe News Star published a daily article with photo, profiling local (white) business owners. The News Star, which published only Monday – Friday, would publish the first profile and the next day it would appear in the Morning World, which published Tuesday – Sunday. The Sunday profile in the Morning World was exclusive to that paper. Below is a list of all 157 men who have a profile.

You can come by the Main Branch Genealogy department of the Ouachita Parish Public Library, and ask for the date you want to see. Most of them are digitized on Newspapers.com, but the library’s subscription only goes up to the mid 1920s.
