This building once sat next to where the Children’s Museum is now on Walnut. It was a major tourist attraction when it opened. People were fascinated by getting ice in the middle of summer! It was said they first used river water to make the ice. Can you imagine what kind of bacteria would have been in it? Yuck! Later on, they got their water from a well.
