In 1934, LSU Journalism student Stanley “Stan” Shlosman and six other students, worked at the LSU student newspaper “The Reveille”. Senator Huey Long was in power, and the Reveille published a letter to the editor critical of Huey. Huey was upset. The press was stopped and confiscated. The men were made to apologize but seven refused. They were subsequently expelled. The men were referred to as “The Reveille Seven”. The men were later exonerated and given an apology. One of the seven, Stan, who lived for a time in Monroe, donated his collection to the Ouachita Parish Public Library and it is now available to view at the Louisiana Digital Library here:
