The Annie P. Docked at Monroe

This postcard shows the Sternwheel packet Annie P. docked at Monroe. You can see the Endom bridge behind it. According to Way’s Packet Directory and Way’s Steam Towboat Directory, the Annie P. was built in Campti, LA in 1904. She made a special trip from New Orleans to Dennison, Tex. on Red River, arriving at Denison April 22, 1905. She was the first and only steamboat in the 20th century to go there. She was sold to Trinity River, TX in 1905 and was back in the Red River by 1906. I did find a 1906 article (New Orleans Item, Nov. 10, 1906, page 10) stating she had been bought by Captain Ben S. Meredith to be used as a connecting boat on the Boeuf River for the Bob Blanks. I suspect the above photo was taken around then. She was rebuilt in 1909 and renamed the Lucile. She sank in the Yazoo River in 1912, but was raised and rebuilt to become a small towboat named Eutaw, towing logs out of the Yazoo. A lumber company bought her in 1921 and renamed her Karlina. After a series of owners, the Karlina finally burned at the mouth of White River on April 5, 1933.
