The Monroe Sanitarium

This building stood on the corner of Apple and Jackson Streets and was a predecessor of St. Francis Hospital. It was a nurse training school, in operation between 1908 and 1914. This hospital, the Riverside Sanitarium and the Confederate hospital, were the earliest hospitals in operation in Monroe. I have seen references to a West Monroe Hospital in 1907 state papers, but I don’t know where it was located.
