Monroe Illustrated

Title page for the Monroe Illustrated

Back in 1905, a businessmen’s club in Monroe called the Progressive League decided to showcase what Monroe had to offer. Inside this little newspaper was 76 pages chocked full of ads and information about the “Parlor City”. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be showing you an assortment of photos and ads from it that I found interesting. To view the actual newspaper, ask for it in the Special Collections Department of the Ouachita Parish Public Library, call number SC La 917.63 Mon.
