St. Mary’s Female Academy

I just happened to stumble across this ad in the Ouachita Telegraph of February 1, 1866. I had never heard of St. Mary’s Female Academy and wondered if it was the same as St. Hyacinth.

Sure enough, a few months later (September 15, 1866) the Telegraph was advertising for St. Hyacinth! I never knew the school briefly had another name!
