The Monroe Ramada Inn

I remember this building as a kid. It stood next to Interstate 20, right off of Hwy. 165. It always stuck out, due to a story my dad told me once. The last time Elvis came to Monroe, Dad happened to be near the Ramada and saw Elvis with his entourage coming down the steps. He says that was as close to him as he ever got! Unfortunately, “Elvis slept here” didn’t save the building and it came down in the late 80’s or early 90’s.
