This is a rare, grainy photo I found! It shows men erecting a pole (probably electric!) on the corner of Jackson and DeSiard Streets. To give you an idea, the vacant lot is where the Central Bank and Trust Company building is now. You can see Kaliski Music Company in the back. The building later housed Fields Department Store. The building on the right was the Royal Confectionery store, later Bodan’s Pharmacy. The site is now a vacant, grassy lot used as a park and an outdoor movie area in the summer. If you look real close, you see DeSiard Street was paved with bricks!
