Last week I bought this old postcard from eBay. The back of it said the business was located at 415 North 3rd street, which is across the street from the old News-Star building. I did a little digging.
I found that this business opened on December 9, 1938 at 109 North Grand Street. The men who ran it were two brothers, J.L. and Walter Cash along with J.F. Davis. The business sold paint and wallpaper supplies. I think the above man is one of the Cash brothers, but I can’t tell which one from the younger photos on their Find A Grave memorials.
They seemed to have moved locations quite a bit! I find them at 403 Louisville Ave., and 700 North 5th as well. The above location on N. 3rd, I believe, was in the mid 60’s. The last mention of the business in the papers was in 1980.
