Happy 4th of July!

Tomorrow will be a big day in the Twin Cities! Look for me riding a float in the parade tomorrow!

I was curious about July 4th celebrations in Monroe and found this little ad in the Monroe Register, June 28, 1860. The South was on the brink of the Civil War, yet still celebrated the 4th.

Directly opposite the old Town of Trenton is roughly Forsythe Park/Boat Dock, about where the Biedenharn Museum is. That area was also the plantations of the Breards, Stubbs and Ludelings.
