A Circus Performer is Killed in Monroe

The following article was published in national papers back in November, 1908. I didn’t find any article that gave his full name, or whether or not he died from his injuries. I assume he did.

Missed His “Leap-for-Life.”

Monroe, La., Nov. 12. – At the Ouachita parish fair here today, a performer whose feat is known as the “leap-for-life” and consists of swinging on a rope through a sheet of flame, fell from a fifty-foot derrick and is believed to have been fatally injured. His home is in Marion, Ohio, but only his last name, Bell, is known to the officials of the fair. he was brought to the city and placed in a hospital.
