Flower Parade “Float” 1910

I have seen this one around. Today the photo turned 110 years old. Every year to kick off the Monroe Fair, there would be a parade through Monroe. The above was a “float” decked out in flowers. I don’t know where it was taken, but that looks like the Ouachita River in the background. Forsythe Park maybe? The fair was a huge deal in Monroe. The day it began, businesses closed and everyone came out. There was usually a circus that came as well! That year there was one of those spinning merry-go-round type rides designed to throw you off! I have seen footage of one that was at Coney Island in New York. It was very amusing entertainment to see what guy could hold on the longest! Sounds dangerous to me!
