The Palace Style Show – 1924

ULM is the repository of the Griffin photo collection which is well known in Monroe for their flood photos. However, there is another set of photos taken almost 96 years ago on September 24, 1924. Each year the Palace Department Store had a style show to show off the latest in women’s fashion hot off the runways of New York. Mr. Griffin took pictures of the models and the images are stunning. The models are not identified, but some of their names are known due to a News-Star article the next day. They are: Hortense Dixon, Fanny Peterkin, Zola Young, Esther Sugar, [Clara] Hall, Fanny Haas and [Anna Louise “Lulu”] Kornmann.
