In the 1950s, the Daughters of the American Revolution undertook the task of indexing many state cemeteries. They didn’t get all of them, but what they did index is a treasure trove. I tell people all the time that if you can’t find a burial in the modern indexes, look in the DAR indexes. The stone may have been legible or still standing when these ladies came through! The Ouachita Parish Public Library has all twenty-five volumes. The Ouachita cemeteries that were indexed, along with the page and volume number are:
