A week ago today, I was going to bid on the below rare postcard so that it could be added to the library’s collection. Unfortunately, the bidding got too rich for my blood and it escaped. Such a loss to history! I did some research and found that the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks had their state convention in Monroe in April, 1908. What this shows is the outside of the Monroe Elks Club Lodge hall! It was at the corner of Grammont and South Grand, right on the river. Out of frame on the right would have been the Ouachita National Bank. What a gorgeous building!
