The Origin of Finks Hideaway Road

I had a patron come in asking about the origin of Finks Hideaway Road. Here is what I found.

You may have heard of Fink the Tailor. His son Herbert Fink was a well-to-do businessman himself. Mr. Fink loved horses and horse racing. As a matter of fact, some of his horses won some big state races. He owned a stable and named it “Hide-Away” or “Fink’s Hide-A-Way”. He and his wife would host lavish barbecue parties at Hide-Away which were reported in local society columns in the 40’s and 50’s. Unfortunately, Mr. Fink passed away from a heart attack at Hide-Away on February 5, 1964. He was only 61. The road to the stables was called Finks Hideaway road and has retained the name ever since!
