I really think this one is mislabeled. I can find no Blake’s Music Shop but there WAS Kaliski Music Co. Ltd., located at 322 De Siard Street. Who knows?
UPDATE:
As Mr. Carbrey pointed out below, Blake’s Music Store was listed in an 1899 directory I posted previously about in a thread almost four years ago. It was in the Rolleigh building, which was on DeSiard Street directly across from where Art Alley enters Desiard (216 DeSiard). The Rolleigh building burned in 1916. It was the last remaining frame and iron building in the business district according to the article about the fire. Thanks Mr. Carbrey!
Another post on Ouachita Parish History – “Monroe, LA businesses in 1899” which is the – “Southern Directory Company’s Business Directory of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Monroe, Shreveport, . . . ” shows – “MUSIC STORES. Blake’s Music Store, Raleigh bldg, DeSaird”.

This photo is also on Facebook at “If you grew up on the southside of Monroe, La – Blake’s Music Store on Desiard st. in Monroe in the early 1900s.” but has no additional details besides the photo.

Ah HAH! Thanks for pointing that out! I had forgotten that post (it has been almost four years ago!) I would bet good money that he took over from E.C. Rolleigh’s music store! Thanks so much!
