I have posted a couple of views like this one before. This is a little bit different. The photographer was standing on DeSiard Street. Allen’s Pharmacy is on the left and the bank where the Vantage building now stands is on the right. You can see the St. John’s Pharmacy building down the street! The stone and the marker on the corner of the bank building still exist. When it was torn down, they were incorporated into a private home standing right off Louisville Avenue!
Just an FYI, I know there are at the very least, close to 170 different postcards from Monroe’s past. I would not be at all surprised if there were closer to 200! I’m going to try to track down copies of each one. Stay tuned here in the future!
