Noesgay: The Noe Family Home

I knew Governor and Mrs. James A. Noe owned Whitehall Plantation, but I didn’t know they had a seperate home in Monroe!

At the estate sale I told you about Friday, I also found a collection of notecards done in 1987 by Ms. Amy Katherine Jackson. The collection was called “Southern Perspective”. The notecards had sketches of area homes including Lower Pargoud, Upper Pargoud, The Isaiah Garrett House (Law Office), the G.B. Cooley Home, the O’Kelly House and a place called Noesgay. I had never heard of it! It seems circa 1958 the Noe family built this home on Fairview Avenue. It is still standing!

The notecards were added to the Special Collections department.

Yes, I remember when the Noes lived in the house on Fairview. Must have been in the late 60s or early 70s.

The name of the house, if I remember correctly, was tiled in the porch in front of the door.
