Fannie May Trousdale

This lady was a real go getter in her time! She was a writer of books, magazines and newspaper articles at a time when few women did such things! She was born in Atlanta, GA and was educated in the schools there. Writing was her passion and she began to travel the south for writing inspiration. On one of her trips to Monroe, she met and fell in love with Charles Trousdale, a local newspaper editor. The two were kindred spirits and quickly married. Fannie continued to write her articles and books as well as help out in her husband’s newspaper business. After Charles died in 1921, Fannie went back on the road, getting inspiration for her articles and doing public speaking engagements all over the south. She passed away in 1932 and is buried beside her husband in the Old City Cemetery.
