Ouachita Veterans of the War of 1812

I was browsing through Dr. Williams’ book, “Founding Families of the Ouachita Valley” Part Three and there was a section about Col. William Wood. He was the grandfather of William Wood Farmer and great Grandfather of W.W. Farmer, Jr. Dr. Williams states that Col. Wood, during the War of 1812 organized a unit of Ouachita Parish men to defend Louisiana from the British. They saw service near Baton Rouge. Dr. Williams gave a list of names of Ouachita men under Col. Wood’s command in late 1814 and there are some big ones:

Lewis Lillard, 1st Lieut.
John Wood, 2nd Lieut.
William Weathersby, Surgeon (This is Senator Solomon Weathersbee Downs’ father)
Mills Farmer, Sergeant (Would later marry William Wood’s daughter Sarah. Their son William Wood Farmer, Sr. would become Lieut. Gov. of Louisiana.)
