One of my newest eBay finds is this postcard, which was cancelled in 1908. From looking at the 1909 Sanborn fire maps, I have it tentatively identified as being taken at the corner of 3rd and DeSiard. You can see 3rd coming in on the right almost out of frame. The brick building was a saloon and restaurant. On the left, just before the first building, where the woman is standing, would be Jackson street. The building’s lettering says, “The Idle Hour, Cigars & Tobacco, Ice Cream and Candy”. On the Sanborn map it shows that building was a confectionary with an ice cream factory in the back. I think I can see Endom bridge way in the distance. It is just such a dark photo!
