A few weeks ago, stumbling around the internet, I found this little gem.

It is identified as Abraham Morhouse and it is in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian. You can see the book it came from here: https://npg.si.edu/bache/book . The image is on page 26 on the right hand side, second row. I was stunned when I saw this. The portrait was done by William Bache, a celebrated silhouette portrait artist of the turn of the 19th century. According to the above website, Bache was in New Orleans around 1804, which is when this was supposedly done. Wealthy men of Ouachita parish often came to New Orleans to do business. We are looking at the likeness of Abraham Morhouse, land speculator of Ouachita Parish and the man Morehouse parish is named for. WOW!
