West Ouachita High School Almost Called Something Else

Back in 1987, a new school was being built to replace Calhoun High School. Instead of at Calhoun, it was being built in Cadeville. Some wanted to keep the name, but Cadeville residents said that wouldn’t make sense. It wasn’t in Calhoun anymore. A lot of Cadeville residents wanted to name it William Fenner High School. Fenner was a well known early settler in that area and the name had the backing of the Sons of the American Revolution. Alas, (I am guessing to keep the peace) it was decided to name the school West Ouachita High School.
