A few months back I bought this little token, because I had never seen it before. Trade tokens, were used like money, in exchange for goods. This little token would get you ten cents worth of stuff at the Star Hotel Cigar and News Stand. At the time Blake was the manager, the Star Hotel was located on the corner of DeSiard and North 2nd. By the 1920’s, the hotel had moved into the building on Walnut that many people remember as the Poolside Shop! Coincidentally, the building (and the old Southern Hardware Store next to it) is being remodeled back into a hotel!
