In 1969, Paul Harvey visited Monroe and did one of his radio programs from KNOE studios. Stuffed in the vertical files of the Ouachita Parish Public Library were several flyers which had a transcript of his speech that day. Coincidentally, Paul Harvey came to Monroe again in the 1980’s and was one of the very first in the area to use a portable cell phone!
