Peters Furniture/Funeral Home

Johann “John” Peters came to Monroe in 1866. He was a native of Germany, who emigrated to New Orleans in 1858. After coming to Monroe, he opened his own furniture business and the first undertaking establishment in the city. It was his daughter that married into the Mulhearn family and that family has continued the undertaking business for generations.
